someone called my husband and said we’d won a vacation to the bahamas, but we had to attend a timeshare seminar at a local travel lodge to get it. is this legit?
A vacation timeshare tour is a form of advertising used by many timeshare resorts to encourage individuals to consider purchasing a timeshare ownership or vacation club membership interest.
Most timeshare tours consist of your minimal 90-minute product sales presentation of your timeshare destination or income center, guided by a salesman, an offer of some sort of snack or meal, and ending with one particular or much more salesmen (and generally the revenue manager) encouraging and also pressuring for any purchase. The corporation sending the guest for the timeshare resort normally receives some sort of referral fee, which has resulted inside a huge number of firms that offer you timeshare tours as an incentive.
Timeshare Exchange is often confused with Timeshare Sales. RCI is in the business of timeshare exchanges. It does not develop or sell timeshares. Customers who buy a timeshare with an RCI-affiliated developer have the option to become a paid member of RCI. Such membership entitles them to exchange (swap) their timeshare with other members. RCI facilitates and fulfills the exchange.Although RCI does not develop or sell timehares, it does sell Points Program to use in the RCI affiliate resorts network. More information about the Points programs that RCI sells can be found on the company’s website. Also Wyndham Worldwide, RCI’s parent company does develop and sell timeshares having several resorts around US which are listed in RCI’s resort directory.
Timeshare organizations make a decision which countries they’ll accept friends and family from. If married or cohabiting like a couple, both spouses or partners need to attend. Singles are qualified differently. Men must commonly be married, whilst ladies can often get away with getting single (and occasionally they even lower the minimum revenue requirement). That is simply because with the perception that it’s much easier to promote the timeshare with a woman than it truly is to a man.
Just about every location typically permits one tour per year.Generally a timeshare tour is thrown in as either a bonus or perhaps a requirement for buying some merchandise from a organization, often a single that’s vacation related. Telephone surveys, vacuum cleaner salesmen, and much more, offer you incentives to buyers who are willing to listen to them this sort of as being a “3 day/ 2 night stay” in Las Vegas, San Francisco, or other favorite holiday getaway destinations. These incentives are, in reality, a commitment to carry a timeshare tour.
Journey corporations leverage their current contracts with timeshare hotels to provide far more competitive holiday deals, these kinds of as free of charge hotel keep, indicate tickets, and so on… These will usually be provided from the kind on the “$99 dollar getaway package”, that will require a many evening keep, tickets, and so on using the requirement that the traveler qualify for and carry the timeshare tour.
Some timeshare tours can extend properly beyond the quantity of time originally quoted for that tour and can entail the application of large amounts of pressure by numerous income agents. Sometimes, a totally free advantage is going to be denied or delayed until the guest agrees to obtain from your holiday resort, but it is only the case if the firm is not a credible a single.

It’s not really legit. You will have to go at a specific time to a specific place and hotel or there resort, and then there are other restrictions.
My wife and I went to several of these. we were young and didn’t have much to do on the weekends. We got steaks and a grill once, one we got a 100 gift card to wal-mart. I even won the big screen tv at one. Bust mostly you go sit through an hour or so of the most boring sales pitch! Then they High pressure you till you get mad and leave. All in all I wouldn’t go for just the vacation that you won’t ever take because of all the strings attached!
no, unfortunatly not legit. ive gotten that phone call many many times
yea..my mom won a trip to the bahamas. did the timeshare thing and we went last summer..it was a nice hotel friendly and clean[major points from me]
yes. all u do is sit through it and say u dont want one after its over. ive been to a couple. my mom always buys those for like $100 and we get free tickets to orlando. and get a free hotel.
Many years ago, my parents used to look for these time share offers then they would go to Florida do the 1-1-1/2 hour tour and be free the rest of their entire trip to enjoy the coast. They did eventually move & build a home in Florida but they used this method of cheap vacations several times before they ever moved.
If you are leary contact the Better Business Bureau in the area they are in, or go to ripoff report.com & see if anyone has complained.
Yes, that happened to a friend of mine. She had to pay a deposit of $50.00 per night and a cleaning fee and some other crazy charges like a resort fee. Plus her 90 minutes presentation was 4 hours long. It was a disaster.
the oldest trick in the book. there are plenty of companies that offer this type of thing. My advice is to avoid any "free" vacations, that require you to sit at a seminar, then get pressured by a salesman who’s just looking to make a commission. You want a vacation, just pay for it….
haha
south park
that episode was hilarious
I did one of these once………it was legit, but it was also state-side. I’m not sure that I would venture to the Bahama’s for it. Basically they give you the package with the stipulation that you attend the seminars. If you don’t attend the seminars or leave early, you will be charged for ‘vacation’. It’s not bad, but you do have to sit thru a lot of hard sell on the time share.
Yeah. All you have to do is sit through their 60-90 min seminar… (which can be REALLY boring). then you have the opportunity to either buy time share or decline and just take your free vacation.
Just remember, you have to pay for your own airfair because they can’t promise flights when you want it.
My husband and I won a vacation to peurto rico and all expenses were paid for- hotel and food- and we were able to find some great deals on air fair. pretty sweet, huh.
The only problem was getting my husband to attend the seminar with me!
One of my acquaintences travels the country staying for free at these timeshare resorts. She attends the presentations and say NO. Then relaxes. I don’t think it’s very nice of her to do this but she doesn’t care.
THere was a recent episode of SouthPark where the boys and parents go to a timeshare and every door they exit leads to another "short presentation" before they can enjoy the resort. They spend 48 hours straight in "presentations" that pressure them to join.
Timeshares that sold originally for $22,000 are still up for "resale" by the current owners for $1,500 with no offers. The reason is the yearly $1,000 maintenance fee which you pay whether you go or not.
It’s a scam. No one gives you free vacations. If you want to buy a timeshare, buy one. The best ones have no "free" promotions. They don’t need to give anything away. They sell because of their merits.
many times, but when you go to the presentation they give you the hard sell,if you do not buy, they try to embarass you by saying things like……. these people can not afford it, and similar things, sometimes they turn really nasty, so watch yourselves, and dont be pressured in to something you would regret.
