I was told that you cannot legally sell a timeshare – Is this true?

They said the original purchaser’s name would remain on it & therefore would be liable for it if the "new owner" did not pay the yearly maintenance fees.

Depends on your agreement. Read the contract.

It has to be done correctly, but if you can legally buy a timeshare then you can legally sell a timeshare

If you own it, you can sell it. If the new owners don’t pay the maintenance fees it is not your problem.

It is definitely possible to sell a timeshare that you own. I have sold a timehare that I owned successfully through an online company. It took awhile and I didn’t get as much as I wanted, but it was a fairly easy process once I accepted the offer. The hardest part is finding a buyer!

I know there are different laws and rules with timeshares depending in which state (or country) your timeshare is located and the individual rules for each timeshare. The people at Timeshare Title were very knowledgeable with all those specific rules.

The company that assisted me with the resale was Buyatimeshare.com and they referred the closing to a company called Timeshare Title. Timeshare Title was the entity that took care of the actual ownership.
