I’ve been trying to sell my timeshare ever since I bought it, but there are so many scammers out there I feel like you cant trust any company cause once you’ve given then their "advertising" fee, what incentives do they have to sell your timeshare.

We’re at the crossroads of how to go about selling our timeshare. WE thought at the time it was a good investment but, with life changes that followed we were unable to put it to use. So, with that in mind, we’ve done the following things- Word of mouth, local paper, advertising co.(waste of $$, we did it twice), met with co. that claims to buy timeshares ( no $$ loss on that venture). WE may have to get in touch with the Resort and go through that way but, come on who wants to pay out 20+% depending on the agent you go through! So, is Craig’s List the correct place to list this or Can you guys help us out and give us some suggestions on some REPUTABLE SITES to go through. I think I may check with our friend/Real Estate friend. Here’s what I can tell you- Are particular unit is @ Sunrise Ridge Resort Pigeon Forge, TN just outside Gatlinburg/Smokey Mts. in Tennessee! though they have a total of 5 places to rent. The market sucks right now it’s defintely a buyers market! we may wait for the market to do better then try again later. WE’ve tried quite a few things like local paper, advertising co’s, word of mouth and no luck! The Resort Rents it out but, we’re not seeing any of that $$ and we are middle class and most of our friends/ family are on tight budgets due to the economy and other issues so, we can’t rent it out ourselves. Example:
-paid weekly
-smallest timeshare package earns me 600. comm.
-full benefits begin 10 days after hire
-mon-fri 9a-5
- base pay if no comm. achieved
-this is not regular timeshare, you have access to stay whereever whenever.

I’ve been contacted by Corporate Travel Brokers to sell my timeshare, but they want 50 up front which they say is refundable once the title clears. Wondering if anyone has done this and did they get the refund and the sale price after that?

It is a camping community on a lake in Chancellorsville, VA. It also comes along with membership to Endless Getwaway Club (a vacation discount company). I know that I can place an ad or go on craigslist or ebay or whatever. My question is this:
My actual timeshare is not at a great place or a great week. I can however trade it for a week anytime of year and any place (such as florida, hawaii, bahammas, etc..) To trade my week I have to submit my name and information. So I am wondering if and how to sell this week to someone. I mean how do they use it if it is all in my name and under my info.?
First of all it is not that I believe that I can trade it…. it is a fact since I have done it many times. I have exchanged it for Hawaii and Florida (3x’s).
I already know how to do this….. so what I was asking is how someone else can use the week after I have done so, since my name is on everything.
Im looking for a website or something where I can sell my timeshare. I really dont want to have to pay to much to put it out there so I want a free site or one that is a low cost. I have a timeshare through HSI but I have had it on their site for a couple weeks and it hasnt even been looked at. It includes 28 weeks over the span of 25 years plus an additional 11 weeks with our resort. Does anyone know of a place that will buy it from me?? Or maybe a site I can post it on?? I’d rather not do ebay, so lets exclude that. See if anyone can help me out.

Looking for Tips on how to Rent or Sell a Timeshare
I am looking at selling my timeshare and am not sure really where to start or what companies I can trust.
My ex and I have a timeshare we paid in full about 10 years ago. Now neither of us no longer use it nor care to pay the maintenance fees. We want to sell it and do not want to get scammed with paying up front fees. Has anyone actually had success in selling their timeshare? How did you do it? Also, how long did it take to sell?
Despite the fact that they cannot afford it, my parents have been involved with a timeshare for several years now.
My response has always been for them to accept the sunk cost and just dump it. But she has been indicating that they actually owe them money (in addition to the regular monthly costs).
How can I help my parents improve, if not eliminate, their time share problem?
