Question by toplawdude: What due diligence can I do to protect myself in the purchase of a timeshare resale from a seller at ebay?
I am considering purchasing/bidding on a timeshare resale at e-bay and the seller has indicated that I should do my due diligence. What should I check out and from whom should I obtain this information?

Real estate due diligence usually involve the verificaiton of claims. You want to know the buidling actually exists. You want know that he owns the building. These information can be obtained from the local courthouse.

But you are dealing with timeshare, which is murkier. A reputable seller would therefore should offer you more information, such as the evidence of legitimate contract. Telling you to do your own diligence when it is nearly impossible to do so would be an indication that you might want to think it over.

A lot of people sell them on Ebay. I would put an ad in the local paper and check with friends, co-workers, etc.

Question by great one: How can I get out of a timeshare contract?
I bought some timeshare in florida for 12k its next to walt disney, universal studios and sea world. I need help selling it.

You and millions of others need to sell.

Timeshares are the WORST “investment” there is.

However, see if the resort will buy it back. You will NOT get 12k for it. MAYBE 25% of the sales price. If you are lucky.

Great Vacation Destinations?

My mom got talked into purchasing a "discounted vacation" over the phone through a company called Great Vacation Destinations. The trip is a few days in Orlando, FL and then a couple days on a cruise to the Bahamas, followed by a couple more days in Ft Lauderdale. The catch is that you have to go to a timeshare presentation for BlueGreen timeshares. And there are bonus vacations that you can take to Las Vegas and Cancun etc later on.

She now regrets the decision to buy, but has already shelled out a good chunk of money which I don’t think she can get back, so we are going to go check it out. I have heard lots of people’s opinions that all these types of offers are scams, and I would tend to give the same opinion, but is there anyone out there that has actually gone on this vacation with this company and could report on their experiences and/or offer any advice to ensure that the trip is at least a success, even if it’s not the great deal that they sell you on over the phone.
